On Thursday June 17, 2021 at approximately 10:15 AM, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 4500 block of South Calhoun Street in reference to a personal injury accident. As officers and paramedics arrived on the scene, they located two vehicles in the middle of the roadway. Paramedics provided medical attention to three adult victims before transporting them to a local hospital with Non-Life Threatening injuries. Officers observed one adult female inside one vehicle that was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Initial information obtained is that one vehicle was traveling southbound on Calhoun and one vehicle was traveling northbound on Calhoun. The vehicle traveling northbound crossed into the southbound lane colliding with the other vehicle. It is unclear what caused the vehicle to cross into the southbound lane.
The name of the deceased adult female as well as the exact cause and manner of death will be by the Allen County Coroners Office. Calhoun Street will be closed for a period of time from McKinnie to Sherwood Terr while investigators conduct their investigation. This incident is being investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department F.A.C.T Team, Allen County Coroners Office, Three Rivers Ambulance Authority, and Fort Wayne Fire Department.
