Celebrate Juneteenth Fort Wayne 2021
Juneteenth Fort Wayne 2021 will be a week-long celebration.

Fort Wayne, Indiana (May 12, 2021) – Unity in the community takes center stage for Fort Wayne’s Freedom Day. Over 30 organizations and 70 individuals have come together to form the Juneteenth Collaborative and facilitate a week-long Cultural Celebration. Juneteenth is an annual holiday to observe the end of slavery in the United States. It marks the day when news of emancipation reached people in the deepest parts of the former Confederacy in Galveston, Texas on June 19th, 1865.

This week-long Celebration will take place in various locations on the Southeast side of Fort Wayne. The Elder Jubilee Brunch, held at Turner Chapel AME (the oldest African-American church in the city), will kick-off the events on Sunday, June 13th, from 2pm-4pm. The Celebration will end with a passing of the torch ceremony at Weisser Park, The ALC promenade down Oxford Street, and festivities held at McMillen Park on Saturday, June 19th from 10:30am – 6pm. The events will offer education, culture, and family fun. We are excited to announce Juneteenth Fort Wayne 2021! (Schedule Below)
