Learn to engage with nature on Kids for Nature Play Day

Fort Wayne, Indiana (May 31, 2021) – The Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo invites guests to engage with nature in curious and artistic ways during our Kids for Nature Play Day on Wednesday, June 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Kids for Nature Play Day encourages zoo guests to explore and appreciate nature in creative ways as a form of education and entertainment.

“Exploring nature through play is essential for children!” Education Curator Andria Schmitz said. “It helps them practice critical thinking, observation, and social skills while developing an appreciation to their surroundings.”

Other staff members, interns and volunteers will be available to encourage nature play with hands-on station activities. Kids for Nature Play Day stations will include educational lessons as well as matching games, coloring and unique crafts. Some of these projects will be completed at the station while others will be handouts for families to take-home so they can continue their nature play every day.

“We want families to know that nature play not only happens in a Zoo setting but can easily be incorporated into your everyday lives,” Schmitz said. “There is so much to discover, even in your own backyard!”

Kids for Nature Play Day activities are free with paid Zoo admission.
