Arbor Day

Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation announces the availability of free tree seedlings tomorrow in celebration of Arbor Day.

Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation to Give Free Tree Seedlings for Arbor Day

Fort Wayne, Indiana (April 29, 2021) – The Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Forestry team will be celebrating Arbor Day 2021 with a free tree seedling giveaway on Friday, April 30 and Saturday, May 1, 2021. The seedlings will be distributed at the Foellinger Theatre parking lot in Franke Park from 3-6 p.m. on April 30 and 9 a.m. – Noon on May 1. The giveaway is a partnership between Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation, Trees Indiana, Verizon and the Arbor Day Foundation.

In addition to maintaining over 65,000 trees throughout the city, the department has also worked to add trees annually. As part of that effort, the Parks and Recreation Forestry staff is distributing hundreds of tree seedlings to citizens on Arbor Day weekend, intended to be planted in citizens’ personal lawns to continue to add to the city’s healthy tree canopy.

Pick-ups will be offered as a drive through process in the Foellinger Theatre parking lot. 200 trees will be available each day, first come, first served, and the seedlings will be Red Maples, Redbuds and Bur Oaks.
