Germanfest to hold Drive Thru for dinners in lieu of traditional festival
Fort Wayne, Indiana (April 20, 2021) – Bring Germanfest home this summer! For nearly four decades, this festival has brought Fort Wayne together for food, drink, and a shared cultural experience. This year, we’re sending the flavor home with you.
We are grateful for the collaboration of the City of Fort Wayne and Allen County Department of Health in trying to accommodate our festival this year. We are heartbroken that circumstances will not allow us to deliver the togetherness und Gemütlichkeit that makes our festival unique for tens of thousands of guests and hundreds of volunteers. We cannot wait to celebrate the 40th Annual Germanfest Fort Wayne in 2022, so we’re keeping the spirit alive with a series of German experiences in 2021!
Join our loyal Germanfest community to partake in a traditional German meal on Saturday, June 12, 2021, from 12pm-5pm. This is the only place you can get our very own recipe bratwurst and quantities are limited, so order early. Pre-order will be accepted via our website, www.Germanfest.org, starting April 26.
The Germanfest 2021 meal will include our special recipe bratwurst in a bun, traditional sauerkraut, German potato salad and apple kuchen (strudel). Everything, as always, is homemade so we can still give you the German love you have come to expect from us. Drive thru locations will be the Fort Wayne Sport Club (3102 Ardmore Avenue) and the Student Life Center on the Ivy Tech Community College North Campus (3701 Dean Drive).
The Germanfest Committee has always been proud to celebrate the deep German heritage of the city of Fort Wayne, Indiana. There is no single component more essential to Germanfest than community and bringing people together. June of 2022 will be the 40th annual Germanfest Fort Wayne and the tradition will continue with Essen, Trinken und Gemutlichkeit!
Additionally, each of the 4 German clubs (Maennerchor/Dammenchor, German Heritage Society, Fort Wayne Turners and Fort Wayne Sport Club will host their Germanfest event.
