Fort Wayne, Indiana (April 19, 2021) – The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to the report of a house fire in the 6300 block of St. Joe Center Road at 7:53 pm on April 19, 2021.
The first unit on the scene found smoke coming from the roof and windows of a one-story home. The crew entered the home with a firehose and searched for occupants. Other firefighters arrived and assisted in controlling the fire.
The search for occupants returned none. The fire was located in a backroom addition that had burned through the floor and into the crawl space under the house.
The fire was under control in 20 minutes and no injuries were reported. The fire is under investigation.
St. Joe Center Road was closed for an hour because a hose had been placed across the road from a fire hydrant.
The Fort Wayne Fire Department was assisted by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Three Rivers Ambulance Authority, Indiana Michigan Power, and the City of Fort Wayne Neighborhood Code Enforcement.
