Fort Wayne Police Department news release on the 8th 2021 Allen County homicide.
Homicide investigation, Alverado Drive
Date: March 19, 2021
Location: 4400 Alverado [sic] Drive
Time: 9:24 am
Details:
Officers were dispatched regarding a shooting that just occurred in the 4400 block of Alverado [sic] Drive. When they arrived they found a female suffering from a gunshot wound a few doors down from her home. She was said to have life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. She was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival at the hospital.
Witnesses stated that the woman’s husband had left after an altercation. Officers were able to find him and conduct a traffic stop on him. He was taken into custody at Paulding and Wayne Trace. There was another person in the car with him at the time of the stop. They are safe and unharmed. We do believe this to be a domestic situation at this time and are not looking for any other suspects.
The Fort Wayne Police Department Homicide Team and Crime Scene are on scene and will be handling the investigation. Allen County Coroner’s Office will release the name of the victim pending next of kin notification.
