House fire on Chippewa Trail

Fort Wayne, Indiana (January 20, 2021) – The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a possible house fire in the 5200 block of Chippewa Trail in Fort Wayne, Indiana, at 11:14 am. When the first units arrived they found heavy smoke coming from the structure. The fire was located in a second-floor bedroom and quickly extinguished.

There was one person home at the time of the fire who exited the structure prior to our arrival.

The fire was believed to have started by an electric space heater being plugged into an extension cord. There were no injuries.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department was assisted by Fort Wayne Police Department, Three Rivers Ambulance Authority, City of Fort Wayne Neighborhood Code Enforcement, and Indiana Michigan Power.
