Fatal Accident

On Monday December 21, 2020 at approximately 10:01 PM, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 5100 block of Mc Cellan Street in reference to a personal injury automobile accident with a vehicle that crashed into a house. As officers arrived on the scene, they located a vehicle inside the house. Officers were advised by witnesses that there was an adult female trapped underneath the vehicle. Paramedics arrived on the scene and pronounced the adult female to be deceased. Witnesses advised that there was a male and female that was inside the vehicle when it crashed into the house but after crashing into the house, both suspects fled the scene on foot. At this time, there is no description of the male or female that fled the scene.
K-9 officers arrived on the scene and attempted to track but were unsuccessful in locating the suspects. Officers spoke with several witnesses who advised that the vehicle was traveling northbound on Mc Cellan Street as it struck some parked unoccupied vehicles in the 5200 block of Mc Cellan Streeet before crashing into the house. It is believed that speed may have been a contributing factor in the crash.
The victim’s identity as well as the exact cause and manner of death will be released at a later time by the Allen County Coroner’s Office. This incident is being investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department (F.A.C.T) Team, Allen County Prosecutors Office, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
