Allen County Board of Commissioners news release:
Broadband Access Survey Participation Urged
Online survey available through June 15(May 20, 2020) — Allen County residents and businesses are being asked to take part in an online survey related to broadband access.
The Allen County Broadband Access Team is conducting the survey as part of the county’s ongoing efforts to bring better internet access to residents. The survey is available now through June 15 at pcrd.purdue.edu/allen.
“First, we have to understand where the greatest issues are and who is getting good service and who isn’t,” said Commissioner Nelson Peters, who is one of the team’s leaders. “People use many different services. Trying to figure out who’s got what is going to take participation from citizens all over the county. We encourage everyone to participate.”
Questions on the survey include whether you have internet service and how it is accessed, if you’re satisfied with the service, reasons the internet is used in the home, and the annual cost. The information participants provide will remain confidential and will be used solely for the county’s broadband planning efforts.
The Broadband Access Team consists of representatives and experts from various economic development and business groups in Allen County and northeast Indiana, cable and internet service providers, and other elected officials.
“The team understands the urgent need for sufficient broadband coverage in Allen County,” Commissioner Peters said. “We hope that you will take the survey for yourself and encourage your friends, neighbors, and co-workers to complete the survey as well. We need all of you to make your voices heard about the broadband needs in Allen County.”
