News release from the Fort Wayne Police Department:
Location: 1400 block of Reed Road
Time: 3:05 PM
On Saturday March 14, 2020 at approximately 3:05 PM, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a residence located at 1422 Reed Road in reference to a disturbance with someone who was possibly armed with a firearm. As officers arrived on the scene, they were advised that a male at this residence was armed with a handgun prior to officers arrival.
Officers attempted to make contact with the male with no success. After the failed attempts to make contact with the male, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department Emergency Services Team and Crisis Response Team were dispatched to the scene. Officers with the Crisis Response Team attempted for several hours to make contact with the male again with no success. Officers on the scene used loud speakers along with sirens to ask the male to exit the residence.
At approximately 9:40 PM, the male exited the residence and surrendered to police. The male was transported to the detective bureau to speak with investigators.
This incident was investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutors Office.
