Our favorite festival is right around the next corner! From the Germanfest organizers:

Germanfest 2019

(May 27, 2019) – Germanfest 2019 is upon us. The festival runs from June 2 – 9 with Headwaters Pavilion open June 5-9. Entrance is free until 2pm, 2-5 is $2 and $5 after 5. Military with ID, free of charge. Children under 14 admitted free with parent/guardian.

Hours: June 5 & 6 10:30am – 11:00pm , June 7&8 10:30am – 1am, June 9 10:30am-5pm

June 2 – 9

Sunday June 2 – Maennerchor/Damenchor Heimatabend – official start to the festival. The choir is celebrating 150 years in 2019. Concert and German dinner. Doors open at 3:30, 4:30pm Concert, dinner served from 6-8pm Park Edelweiss, 3355 Elmhurst Drive

Sunday June 2 – Sonntag Spasstag – Sunday Funday at Turners 3636 Parnell Avenue 1:00pm Flip Cup Tournament sponsored by Yuengling. Prizes are Germanfest passes and tickets.

Monday June 3 – Warsteiner Abend with German Heritage Society at Club Soda. 235 E Superior Street 5:00pm-? Dinner of handcrafted bratwurst, sauerkraut, red cabbage, potato salad and apple streusel for $12. The Judge Scheibenberger Masskrugstemmen Contest ( mass=large, krug=stein, stemmen=strength) hosted by 96.3 XKE – contest will have a men’s and women’s competition. 7:00pm

Tuesday June 4 – Spaten Abend at the Sport Club 3102 Ardmore Avenue 6:00pm – 6 v 6 adult soccer tournament and Party celebrating Spaten bier.

Wednesday June 5 – Tapping of the ceremonial keg at 11:00am with Mayor Henry – Headwaters Pavilion

Thursday June 6 – Police Pull (new event) Police officers from Gera vs Fort Wayne Officers – see whom can pull the BEAR CAT faster. 6:00pm Headwaters Pavilion

Legs N Lederhosen contest 7:30pm – Headwaters Pavilion

Friday June 7 – Akkordeon Serenade – 7:00pm Community Center, free admission – 25 member student accordion group visiting Ft Wayne from our Sister City Gera, Germany. They will play polkas, waltzes and familiar pop tunes.

Saturday June 8 – Weinderdog Nationals – 2:00pm Headwaters Park. Who is the fastest dachshund in the greater Fort Wayne area. Also, Familienfest in the park (Family day)

6:00 Trauben Tromp (grape stomp) & 7:00pm Polka Like a Star – Headwaters Pavilion

Sunday June 9 – 11:00am Traditional German Church service at Headwaters Pavilion led by Pastor Chad Trouten – stay and enjoy lunch and the 18th annual Germanfest bakeoff (judging begins at noon)
