Sport Wayne to lease at Electric Works

News release from Electric Works:

Sport Wayne plans climbing facility and adventure park at Electric Works

(January 14, 2019) – The organization behind the Fort Wayne Adventure Games will use a new permanent location at Electric Works to bring adventure to northeast Indiana year-round.
Sport Wayne Inc. has signed a letter of intent to design and open a sizable, state-of-the-art climbing gym and adventure park, named Rush Rock Gym, at Electric Works. The facility, which will also include the organization’s headquarters and administrative operations, will be located in the former Building 36 on the western edge of the development’s West Campus.
“The building is perfect; it looks like it was built for climbing,” says Corey Ford, President and CEO of Sport Wayne Inc. “We love the space in the building, the location near downtown and the energy surrounding the development – it’s an ideal fit in every way.”
Rush Rock Gym will include approximately 30,000 square feet of climbing space, with an Olympic-sized speed climbing wall, an adventure zone for youth, and dedicated space for bouldering, parkour, rappelling and zip lines. It will also feature the first deep net soloing wall in the United States – enabling it to host regional and national climbing competitions and exhibitions – as well as an all-abilities / adaptive climbing space for climbers with physical, sensory or cognitive disabilities. Upon completion, it’s expected to be one of the largest climbing gyms in the state of Indiana.
“Health and wellness are core parts of the community vision for Electric Works, and Sport Wayne’s presence will be important in promoting recreation, fitness, and play on the campus and throughout the region,” says Jeff Kingsbury of RTM Ventures, the development team behind Electric Works. “The facility and its unique setting within Electric Works will also be a regional and national draw for climbers, while complementing other downtown quality of place amenities like the Riverfront.”
Founded in 2014, Sport Wayne promotes recreational, youth and adaptive sports programs by providing unique engagement platforms and support services that connect athletes to new opportunities.
