News release from the Fort Wayne Fire Department:
House Fire, Shore Drive
(August 2, 2018) – The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a report of fire on a stove top from the 1000 block of Shore Drive.
Units arrived on scene finding smoke coming from open front door and visible fire from the kitchen area. Fire crews extinguished the fire and completed a search of the home for 4 cats. All cats had been removed by fire crews or self evacuated and all survived.
The sole occupant self evacuated and was checked out and treated on scene for possible smoke inhalation. The occupant refused transport to the hospital and was released at the scene.
NIPSCO, Indiana Michigan Power, Neighborhood Code Enforcement, Fort Wayne Police Department, and the American Red Cross also assisted.
