Fatal Traffic Accident

Location: Calhoun Street and Lexington Avenue

Fort Wayne police responded to the report of an injury accident involving two motorcycles on Calhoun Street and Lexington Avenue at approximately 6:20 p.m. this evening. Upon their arrival officers observed two motorcycles down in the roadway. One of the operators was unresponsive and rushed to a hospital in critical condition but died a short time later. The other operator of the second motorcycle was in fair condition.
According to investigators the two cycles were traveling south on Calhoun Street approaching the intersection of Branning Street when they lost control of their motorcycles where the road surface had recently been milled for resurfacing. Calhoun Street was closed to all traffic from Branning Street to Lexington Avenue during the investigation. It’s unknown at this time if speed and or alcohol played a factored in this incident.
The Allen County Coroner’s office will release the name of the deceased once notification to next of kin has been made. This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Coroner’s office and the Allen County Prosecutors office.
