Dragon Boat Races tomorrow – 6/23/2018


News release from Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation:

4th Annual Dragon Boat Race & Activities: Saturday June 23, 8am – 4pm

(June 21, 2018) – Join Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation and Riverfront for the exciting Dragon Boat Races presented by Parkview Regional Medical Center. Teams will compete along the St. Marys River between the Harrison Street Bridge and Headwaters West Amphitheatre.
This free event features teams competing in 40-foot dragon boats (20 paddlers and 1 drummer in each), local food vendors, free children’s activities and an Athlete’s Village. Kicking off the event is a performance by Chinese Friends & Family at the Main Stage at 8am.
The first heat begins at 8:30am, the second heat is at 10am and the final round begins at 1pm. Each team races twice, with top ten teams racing three times, and final placement is based on completion time.
Dragon boat racing originated in China, and continues throughout the world as great community events. This year’s races are brought to you by Riverfront Fort Wayne and Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation, and sponsored by Parkview Regional Medical Center, Steel Dynamics, Inc., Lincoln Financial Corp., ABC21 WPTA and Majic 95.1.
