NWS: Shower/storm chances increasing


Tonight’s weather story from the National Weather Service:

Shower/Thunderstorm chances increase Monday
Slight risk of severe thunderstorms on Monday

(May 20, 2018) – Mainly dry conditions are expected this evening, but chances of showers and thunderstorms will increase overnight into Monday morning.
A brief lull in coverage of showers and thunderstorms is possible Monday, but additional scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop later Monday afternoon into early Monday evening. A few of the thunderstorms Monday afternoon and evening may be strong to severe with isolated damaging wind gusts and isolated large hail as the main threats.
The greatest risk of severe weather on Monday afternoon and evening is roughly along and south of Route 24. Confidence in thunderstorms is medium to high, but confidence is severe weather is low to medium. Locally heavy rainfall is also possible on Monday.
Conditions will begin to dry out later Monday evening, with quiet weather expected through much of the remainder of the upcoming work week.
