Germanfest kicks off today! – June 4, 2017

The Headwaters Park Bier Tent opens Wednesday, but until then, there are plenty of activities to enjoy as Germanfest kicks off today.
Germanfest activities for June 4, 2017:

 

11:00 A.M. – Göttesdienst (German Mass)
St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 518 East Dewald Street
Father Chuck Herman will conduct a German language church service with special musical accompaniment by Tom Remenschneider and the Fort Wayne Mannerchor/Damenchor. Immediately following the services, gather for a reception of brats and German style refreshments at the church Pavilion.

 

1:00 to 4:00 P.M. – Germanfest Kickoff Beer and Winefest
Fort Wayne Turners, 3636 Parnell Avenue, Fort Wayne, Indiana
Presale discounted tickets thru the link, day of festival $35
Sample over 25 beer and wine selections.
Tasty treats abound at The Fort Wayne Turners. Come out for a beer and wine tasting and enjoy a brat or a burger too! What a fun way to kick off Germanfest week!

 

4:30 P.M. – Mannerchor/Damenchor Konzert (Admission Free)
Park Edelweiss, 3355 Elmhurst Drive, Fort Wayne, Indiana
Doors open at 3 p.m. Indiana’s second oldest German organization, The Fort Wayne Mannerchor/Damenchor will be your hosts for the official opening ceremony of Germanfest 2017, led by director Tom Remenschneider. Come hear authentic German folk music followed by Heimatabend!

 

5:00 P.M. – Bach Back & Beyond, Opus 5
Trinity Episcopal Church, 611 West Berry Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana
In honor of Germanfest, once again Trinity Episcopal Church will be presenting a free program of 18th century German music played on period instruments by the Eleganza Baroque Ensemble.
