Critical Shooting

Date: Sunday, October 23, 2016

Time: 6:43 a.m.

Location: 3500 block of New Haven Avenue

Victim: Adult Female / Critical Condition

Details:

On Sunday, October 23, 2016, at 6:43 AM, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at a home in the 3500 block of New Haven Avenue. Officers arrived and found an adult female suffering from a gunshot wound. The female was initially determined to be in serious condition, and was taken to a local hospital where she was downgraded to critical condition.

Initial information suggests that the female was inside this residence, and someone came to the front door and began shooting, striking the female. That person then fled. Investigator are working to establish if the female was indeed the intended target, what the relationship of the female to the house is, and what led to the shots being fired. There is no suspect information.

Police are currently interviewing at least one witness at the police station, and are searching for any additional witnesses.

This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
