News release from Fort4Fitness:

2016 Fort4Fitness race week is here!
Many new things in store for the 9th annual Fall Festival
Registration closes September 28, 2016 at midnight

(September 26, 2016) – It’s the year for the Inaugural Fort4Fitness Marathon! We are also hosting the 2016 RRCA
National Championship 10K race, and offering new name brand shirts and medals. These are just a few of the
new and exciting things at Fort4Fitness this weekend!

On Friday, September 30th at noon, the Fort4Fitness Festival Expo at Parkview Field will kick off the weekend
and be open through 8 pm. Packet Pick-up, inside the Festival Expo on the center field concourse, will be open
until 8 pm as well. The Kids Marathon and Seniors Marathon start at 6:30 pm and will finish near home plate
inside Parkview Field. On Saturday, October 1st, the races start with the Inaugural Marathon at 7:00 am*, followed
by the 10K Run/Walk (RRCA National Championship race) at 7:30 am, the Half Marathon at 8:30 am, and
the 4 Mile Run/Walk at 10:30 am. Strollers (pre-registered) are welcome in both the 4 Mile and 10K races.

The Inaugural Marathon is an evolution of the previously successful Double Play and Triple Crown race options
(running two or three races on race day). “By adding a 26.2 mile course, Fort4Fitness participants are given the
option to set new goals of completing this impressive accomplishment,” said Carrie Reeb, Director of Marketing
and Community Relations. The continuous distance also eliminates the break between races. To date, 444
participants are registered for the Marathon. Additionally, the 2016 Fort4Fitness Marathon is a 2018 Boston
Marathon Qualifier race.

The 2016 Fall Festival includes a new name brand race shirt. A New Balance® shirt made of wicking
performance material with an athletic fit through the arms and shoulders was chosen for this year. 4 Mile and
10K participants will proudly wear a short sleeve sapphire-colored shirt, the Half Marathon a sharp black, longsleeve shirt, and the Inaugural Marathon will boast an attention-grabbing cherry red, long-sleeve version. The
text “Inaugural Marathon” is also featured on the sleeve of the marathon shirt.

Unique runners this year include first time marathoners James Taylor and Matt Herald, those who have
overcome obstacles like Phillip Amburgey and Sheila Lopez, Mark Mays, an ultra-marathoner and 5th time
participant, and the awesome stories of local charities Team Triumph and Turnstone.

There is still time to register for the 4 Mile, 10K, Half Marathon and Marathon until September 28 at midnight.
