Clandestine Drug Lab House Fire

Subject Arrested: Nora Dolsen, adult, female

Charges:

  3. Maintaining a Common Nuisance

On September 20, 2016 at 3:52 p.m. the Fort Wayne Fire Department received a call of a house fire in basement in the 2100 block of West Main Street. The Fort Wayne Police Department assisted the Fort Wayne Fire Department with an investigation of the house fire. A male subject was reported to have fled the scene of the fire prior to the arrival of the Fire Department.

Vice and Narcotics Detectives located evidence of manufacturing “Spice” or Synthetic Drug in the basement of the residence. It is believed the fire began in the basement during the manufacturing process. Volatile chemicals are often used during the manufacturing process of clandestine drug labs which includes “Spice”. Detectives also recovered 840 grams of powered synthetic cannabinoids used in the manufacturing process. Detectives also located over 34 pounds of plant material used as a host of the synthetic cannabinoids. If the chemical process has been completed with this material it would have an estimated street value of approximately $150,000.

The Department of Child Services was contacted. Several children were removed from the residence. The House was condemned by the Fort Wayne Neighborhood Code Division due to the damage from the fire. The cause and origin of the house fire is under investigation of the Fort Wayne Fire Department Arson Investigation Unit.
