Critical Shooting Investigation

Victims: Female / Critical Condition

Details:

On Sunday, 09/18/2016, at approximately 3:11 AM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 3000 block of Plaza Drive reference a shooting. The original caller informed dispatch a female arrived at his residence and stated she had been shot in the abdomen. He advised the female victim told him she was going to drive herself to the hospital. The victim left his residence driving a blue colored van. Officers searched the area and were unable to locate the victim in the area.

At approximately 3:23 AM, the victim called dispatch and reported she was driving herself to the hospital. She refused to pull over or provide dispatch with her current location. The victim reported the shooting occurred at an address in the 4600 block of Oliver Street. Officers responded to that address and secured the scene.

At approximately 3:37 AM, the victim arrived at a local hospital. While being evaluated by a physician, the victim was able to provide officers with limited details regarding the shooting. Initial information indicates the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute. The physician determined the victim was in critical condition and she was immediately transported to another local hospital for treatment.

Detectives are currently interviewing the victim and additional witnesses that were present at the time of the shooting. Crime Scene Technicians are processing the scene and collecting evidence. There is no suspect information to provide at this time.

This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
