Tonight’s weather story from the National Weather Service:
Showers and thunderstorms expected today
(August 8, 2016) – Just an update on today’s weather and lake conditions. Rain is moving into the western portions of our forecast area, and will continue eastward through the afternoon. There is a chance for thunderstorms as well, especially towards the afternoon hours. The storm prediction center has the area in marginal risk for severe weather, which means isolated severe storms are possible. At this time, confidence in severe weather occurring is low, but stay weather aware today. There is a moderate swim risk on Lake Michigan, which means that breaking waves and currents are expected. Recent observations show wave heights of 2-3 feet.
