FWPD updates: River Run Trail shooting

 

 

The News release from the Fort Wayne Police Department concerning the River Run Trail shooting, is included below the updates.

(August 15, 2016 at 8:20 a.m.) – The victim transported from the scene in the 1900 block of River Run Trail Sunday night, August 14 was pronounced deceased early this morning.

 

Update #2 from the Fort Wayne Police Department:

(August 15, 2016 at 11:28 a.m.) – Fort Wayne Police Department detectives have made arrests in the River Run Trail investigation.

(2) juveniles have been arrested and charged with Felony Murder in the River Run Trail investigation. Their names are being withheld due to theirs ages. It appears that robbery was the motive.

Critical Shooting Investigation

Date: August 14, 2016

Time: 9:58 PM

Location: 1900 River Run Trail

Victim: Male – Critical Condition

 

Details:

On August 14, 2016, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a report of a male shot in the parking lot of 1900 River Run Trail. Officers arrived and located a male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The male was determined to be in critical condition, and was taken to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Initial information indicates that the male was involved in some type of altercation in the parking lot with at least one other male, which led to the shots being fired. It is currently unknown if the victim is an adult or juvenile, as investigators are working to confirm his identity.

A group of males possibly involved in the incident were located by officers a few blocks away, and are currently being questioned to determine whether or not they were indeed involved. Detectives are searching for and speaking with witnesses, and crime scene units are searching for and collecting evidence.
