  • Heat index values into the mid to upper 90s this afternoon.
  • Showers and thunderstorms becoming likely this afternoon through Saturday with locally heavy rainfall possible.
  • An isolated strong to severe storm possible this afternoon/evening with isolated gusty winds as the main threat.


(August 12, 2016) – Hot and humid conditions will continue today with peak afternoon heat index values rising into the 95 to 100 degree range. There is a chance of thunderstorms through early afternoon, but showers and thunderstorms will become likely later this afternoon and especially into tonight and Saturday. Locally heavy rainfall will be possible late this afternoon through Saturday. There is a low chance of an isolated strong to severe thunderstorm this afternoon into this evening with isolated gusty winds as the main threat.

Chances of rain will gradually diminish late Saturday afternoon into Saturday night from northwest to southeast.

A cold frontal boundary associated with this system will bring drier air into the region for Saturday night and Sunday.
