Featuring an array of information from experts on cover crops, phosphorus loss reduction strategies and conservation programs, the field day will provide information to farmers looking to get started in conservation farming, or those seeking assistance with the latest cover crop technology and termination information.

In addition to experts from Penn State University, Purdue University, the Natural Resources Conservation Service, The Ohio State University and USDA, the field day will also offer farmers the chance to collaborate with their peers.

“Field days like this one allow farmers and experts to share information and success stories and to troubleshoot issues with new farming techniques,” said Hans Kok, a Soil Health Partnership field manager in Indiana. “Working with peers is critical to successful implementation of new farming strategies like cover crops.”

The Harlan Field day is jointly sponsored by the Allen County Soil & Water Conservation District via a Non-Point Source Pollution grant from the Indiana Dept. of Environmental Management, with additional support from The Soil Health Partnership, Dean Cover Crops, Nester Ag, Bayer Crop Science, G & K Concepts, Salford Group, Gypsoil, The Ohio State University, Horizon Bank, Purdue Extension, USDA-NRSC, USDA-ARS and United States Geological Survey.
