Tonight’s weather story from the National Weather Service:
Hot and humid, afternoon storms?
(July 24, 2016) – Skies are expected to become at least partly sunny this morning. Temperatures starting in the 70s will quickly rise into the 80s before noon and into the upper 80s to possibly the lower 90s by mid afternoon. Very muggy conditions will set the stage for heat indices to reach near 100, resulting in the need to issue a Heat Advisory through 8 pm EDT. A cold front will move towards the area this afternoon and evening, interacting with what should be an unstable atmosphere. As a result, scattered thunderstorms are expected after 4 pm EDT. There is a risk for isolated strong to severe storms with damaging winds the greatest threat. Very heavy rainfall will also accompany the storms. If outdoors, head for the beach or your favorite pool and stay cool. Check on those that may not have reliable means to cool themselves.
