CIB issues RFP for downtown arena

News release from the Capital Improvement Board:

CIB issues Request For Proposals for schematic design work for possible downtown arena

(June 2, 2016) – The Allen County-Fort Wayne Capital Improvement Board of Managers (CIB) today announced a request for proposals (RFP) has been issued for the purpose of selecting an architectural and engineering firm to develop programming, conceptual and schematic designs, and an estimate for the cost of construction for a possible downtown arena.

Last month, at the request of the City of Fort Wayne and the Allen County Board of Commissioners, the CIB agreed to lead and fund the RFP process.

The CIB has established a study committee to oversee the RFP process. The study committee will evaluate responses to the RFP and make a recommendation to the CIB.

Qualified firms interested in submitting a proposal should visit www.allencountycib.org. It’s anticipated a selection will be made by August 1.

In March, the downtown arena committee that was established to examine viability presented its recommendations to Mayor Tom Henry. It concluded that a multipurpose entertainment, sports and events center would further strengthen Fort Wayne’s position as a leader in economic development opportunities and quality of place amenities that set our community and region apart as a place where businesses, individuals, and families want to invest.
As a first next step, the downtown arena committee recommended that an architectural and engineering firm should be hired to develop a schematic design for a more thorough evaluation of programming options and cost of construction.
