Today’s weather story from the National Weather Service:
Isolated storms today, cooler Tuesday
An isolated strong to severe storm possible this afternoon
(June 6, 2016) – An upper level disturbance and cold front approaching the region today will result in the development of isolated, mainly afternoon showers and thunderstorms.
A few of the storms may produce some small hail and isolated damaging wind gusts. The greatest threat of an isolated severe storm is across southeast portions of the forecast area depicted in the marginal risk (dark green).
Otherwise, breezy conditions are expected today with west winds gusting to 20 to 25 mph this afternoon, and high temperatures reaching the upper 70s and lower 80s.
Much cooler conditions are in store for Tuesday behind the front with highs only expected to reach the mid to upper 60s for most locations. In addition, breezy conditions will continue on Tuesday leading to building waves, dangerous currents, and an increased swim risk for the southern Lake Michigan nearshore waters.
