Death Investigation
Date: Sunday, May 22, 2016
Time: 12:30 p.m.
Location: 4400 Block Spatz Avenue
Details:
Fort Wayne police responded to the 4400 block of Spatz Avenue at 12:30 p.m. this afternoon on the reported shooting. Once on scene officers found an unresponsive male down on the east side of Spatz Avenue. Medics and fire personnel pronounced the male dead on the scene.
Neighbors in the area reported hearing several shots being fired which prompted the 911 calls. During the investigation detectives were required to expand the initial crime scene to include the 4300 block of Spatz Avenue as officers discovered several shell casings. There is no motive for this apparent shooting nor is there any suspect information. The Allen County Coroner’s office will be conducting an autopsy on Monday to determine a cause and manner of death as well as releasing the name of the victim once it has been confirmed and appropriate to do so.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Coroner’s office and the Allen County’s Prosecutor’s office.
