Critical Injury Traffic Accident

Date: 5/11/2016

Time: 9:29 PM

Location: 3300 Oxford Street and Lindbergh Boulevard

Victim: Adult Male/ Critical Condition

Details:

On May 11, 2016, at 9:29 PM, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the intersection of Oxford Street and Lindbergh Boulevard on a report of a traffic accident involving injuries. Officers arrived and found an adult male, who was operating a moped, to be in critical condition. Medics took the male to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition.

At this time it appears the moped was traveling eastbound on Oxford Street, and a passenger car was traveling westbound. The passenger car turned southbound onto Lindbergh Boulevard. in front of the moped, causing the collision.

The adult male was the only person on the moped, and the driver of the passenger car was not injured. There were no other vehicles involved. Neither speed nor alcohol are believed to be involved, and it does not appear that the moped rider was wearing a helmet.

Crash investigators are currently collecting evidence and processing the scene. Oxford Street remains closed during the investigation. This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department FACT team.

Assisting agencies: Fort Wayne Fire Department and the Three Rivers Ambulance Authority.
