Public Hearing Scheduled for Proposed Syringe Exchange Program in Allen County

(May 6, 2016) — The Allen County Board of Commissioners announced today it will hold a public hearing on a proposed syringe exchange program in Allen County.

The hearing will take place on Monday, May 16, beginning at 3 p.m. in the Council Courtroom (Suite 035) of Citizens Square, 200 East Berry Street.

Last October, the Fort Wayne-Allen County Health Department unanimously approved beginning the process of implementing of a needle-exchange program to slow the spread of hepatitis C cases among intravenous drug users. A copy of the proposed program may be downloaded here.

Anyone unable to attend the public hearing but who wishes to have their comments entered into the record may send written comments to the Allen County Board of Commissioners, 200 East Berry Street, Suite 410, Fort Wayne, IN 46802, or by email to commissioner@allencounty.us before 5:00 p.m. on May 15.
