Carroll to hold 8th annual Spring Fashion Show
“Color Me Spring” to highlight creative couture(May 6, 2016) – The annual Carroll High School Spring Fashion Show is set for Friday, May 13, 2016 at 7 PM in Carroll’s Large Auditorium. The event showcases the knowledge and skills learned in Fashion and Textiles Careers class. Proceeds from donations will benefit the Carroll High School Special Education program.
The event will consist of a runway show with live models, along with on-site preparation of appetizers following the show. Each Fashion & Textiles Careers student designed and created two garments which will be modeled by Carroll students. Introduction to Fashion students will also be featured in the show, as they model one of their garments that they created in class. This will include several special needs students who will model a blanket and t-shirt that were hand crafted.
“Instead of traditional formal wear and gowns, the students wanted to look at this as more of an artistic display of their creativity,” said Fashion and Textiles Careers teacher Denise Mohr. “The students were challenged to create an unconventional garment, in which they had the creative freedom to use anything except for fabric. You will see garments created out of everything from candy conversation hearts to drinking straws.”
Following the show, all kids in attendance will be invited to come up on stage for a junior catwalk. This “kittywalk” will give children the opportunity to strut their stuff on a real runway to lights and music, and will serve as an excellent photo op for parents. Guests in attendance will be invited to mingle with the designers following the show, and will be treated to light hors d’oeuvres prepared by Blu Flame culinary students.
This is a free event and open to the public, with donations accepted at the door to benefit the Carroll High School Special Education Program.
