Critical Shooting, Weisser Park Avenue

Date: May 1, 2016

Time: 4:48 P.M.

Location: 2800 block of Weisser Park Avenue

Victim: Adult Male/Critical Condition

Details:

On May 1, 2016, at approximately 4:48 PM, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a report of a person shot in the 2800 block of Weisser Park Avenue. Officers arrived and located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s). The male was found near the north/south alley between Weisser Park Ave. and John Street, just north of McKee Street. Medics determined the male to be in serious condition, and took him to a local hospital, where he was downgraded to critical condition by hospital staff.

Initial information suggests that the male was near the alley, and someone started shooting at the male from or near McKee Street, striking the male. Neighbors heard the gun fire and saw the male down, and called police. It is not currently known what led to the gun fire. There is no suspect description at this time.

Detectives are currently canvassing the neighborhood and speaking with homeowners, hoping to locate a witness. Crime Scene Technicians are processing the scene, searching for and collecting any evidence.
