News release from INDOT:
INDOT Invites Kids to Paint the Plow at Ivy Tech’s Touch-A-Truck Event Tomorrow
INDOT, other first responders to take part from 10 a.m. to noon(April 22, 2016) – Kids will have a chance to Paint the Plow during Ivy Tech Community College’s Touch-A-Truck event on Saturday, April 23, from 10 a.m. to noon at Ivy Tech, 3800 N. Anthony Blvd. in Fort Wayne, presented by the college’s Early Childhood Education Department.
“We enjoy bringing our yellow trucks to Ivy Tech’s Touch-A-Truck each year,” said INDOT Highway Maintenance Director, Chuck Neuenschwander. “This year, we saw a great opportunity to promote INDOT’s Paint the Plow campaign by having the children, literally, paint the plow during the event. This plow may be displayed at community events throughout the summer, and then put into service near Ivy Tech for the winter.”
INDOT invites high schools, career-technical schools and colleges within the Fort Wayne District boundaries to paint an INDOT snow plow blade with original artwork to represent their school. Applications and additional program details can be found at bit.ly/PaintThe Plow.
Paint the Plow is open to all high schools and career-technical schools in Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Elkhart, Grant, Huntington, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Miami, Noble, Steuben, Wabash, Wells and Whitley counties. Consideration will also be given to schools in Blackford, Fulton, and Jay counties, as portions of these counties are located within the district boundaries. Only students who are currently enrolled in the applicant school may participate in the creation, execution and completion of the art project.
