News release from the University of Saint Francis:

USF Hosting International Denim Day to Raise Assault Awareness

(April 13, 2016) — The University of Saint Francis is hosting a special day of fun and fellowship to help raise awareness about sexual assault. International Denim Day will take place on Wednesday, April 27 from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the Pope John Paul II Amphitheatre on the USF campus, 2701 Spring Street.

International Denim Day is a collaboration between USF Community Health Nursing students and the Sexual Assault Treatment Center. This is the third year it has been hosted in Fort Wayne.

Visitors will be able to receive free T-shirts, food and beverages from Chik-Fil-A, and free resources from local organizations. Attendees will also be able to watch a car smash as part of the festivities. Properly attired students, faculty and staff will be armed with sledgehammers as they destroy an old car for the crowd.
The goal of the event is to build awareness among college students, faculty and others in our community of sexual assault myths and truths, and to offer resources for anyone who may need additional information. Assault survivor Michelle Corrao will speak at the event to provide her personal perspective on this sensitive topic. For more information about Michelle, visit michellecorrao.com.

The event is free to the public and no pre-registration is required. For more information about Denim Day and other local awareness events, visit fwsatc.org.
