Spring into making!
Workshops Program April & May 2016(April 14, 2016) – TekVenture, The non-profit Art & Technology Laboratory and Public Workshop located at 1800 Broadway near Downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana, announces it’s SPRING INTO MAKING! Workshops Program for April & May 2016. TekVenture offers over 30 workshops and demonstrations within a six week period between 16 April and 28 May. SPRING INTO MAKING! is one of the most intensive and affordable set of opportunities for younger and older people to get their hands on tools for wood-working, 3D printing, machining, welding, forging and hot metal casting, electronics and robotics, sewing and button-making!
A special feature of Spring Into Making! is a set of four hands-on “Restoration WoodWorx” workshops co-sponsored by ARCH and TekVenture. Charles Loew, restoration woodwright and creator of the WoodWorx in TekVenture, will be introducing hand tools for restoration as well as techniques for restoring wood moldings, doors and windows in historic structures.
In addition to workshops on 3D printing and scanning, Welding for Women, making metal tools on mill and lathe, making round kites, wooden lamps and a propane forge, there will be a workshop offsite on Flameworking of Glass offered by Eran Park at his GlassPark Studio Saturday May 21st.
Also a workshop on Motorcycle Maintenance will be offered on Sunday afternoon May 1st and another for Motorcycle Maintenance exclusively for women will be offered in the evening on Monday May 9.
Most workshops begin on Saturday mornings at 9 AM at TekVenture Headquarters at 1800 Broadway. There is free parking all around the building. Cost of workshops average $35 plus kit costs but some all-day workshops are higher. Ages 12 thru adult are welcome for most workshops.
