Bike show promotes health, wellness, and cycling in Northeast Indiana

(April 14, 2016) – Turnstone and several community partners have teamed up to host BikeFusion, a bike show that will give guests the opportunity to test bikes from area shops, as well as enjoy live music, food, and craft beer. The event will be held May 6, 2016 from 4-10 p.m. at Turnstone’s Plassman Athletic Center, 3320 N. Clinton St., Fort Wayne. BikeFusion is part of the KickSTART Festival, a month-long community celebration of bikes, art, music, and theater.

“Having a bike show in Fort Wayne is a tremendous addition to our bike-friendly city,” said Mayor Tom Henry. “An event like BikeFusion, the new downtown bicycle hub at Ash Skyline Plaza, enhancements to our trails and greenways, and plans for a bike share program demonstrate that our community is experiencing unprecedented investments and momentum and is an attractive place to live, work and play.”

Three area bike shops will be at the show giving novice and expert cyclists the opportunity to take any of their products for a spin on Turnstone’s indoor track. Additionally, people with disabilities will be able to try an array of adaptive bicycles provided by Turnstone. This allows guests of all ages and abilities to test products before making a purchase to ensure the right fit. Guests can also enter to win a bike donated by Fort Wayne Outfitters and Bike Depot.

“We are very excited to not only be a part of something that will help grow the cycling landscape of Fort Wayne, but also to be able to work side by side with Fort Wayne Outfitters and Bike Depot and Human Motor Works,” said James Holm, events and social media coordinator at Summit City Bicycles and Fitness. “With several shops working together it provides the public with a very panoramic view of all the amazing ways you can get out and ride a bicycle. It’s all about coming together to help nurture and grow our cycling community.”

Admission is free with an event flyer or $5 per person/$10 per family. Kids 12 and under are free. Flyers are available online or in person at any sponsor location. Sponsors include Turnstone, the City of Fort Wayne, Fort Wayne Outfitters and Bike Depot, Visit Fort Wayne, Summit City Bicycles and Fitness, Parkview Sports Medicine, Fort 4 Fitness, Human Motor Works, and Parkview Trauma Centers.
