Administrative Changes for 2016-17 Announced

(March 29, 2016) – The Fort Wayne Community Schools Board of School Trustees approved administrative changes for the 2016-17 school year at the March 28, 2016, Board meeting. Changes are effective July 1, 2016.

Timothy Rayl, Secondary Area Director
Timothy Rayl, currently principal at Memorial Park Middle School, began his education career in 2000 in Tampa, Fla. A year later, he joined FWCS as a fifth-grade teacher at Abbett Elementary and later worked as a math teacher, science teacher and math facilitator at Geyer Middle School (now Towles Intermediate School). In 2006-07, he completed the administrative intern program and the following year, he became assistant principal at Portage Middle School. In 2009, he moved to Memorial Park as principal. As a Secondary Area Director, he replaces Chris Hissong, who has been promoted to Assistant Superintendent-Secondary.

 

Chad Hissong, Student & Family Support Services Director
Chad Hissong, currently principal at North Side High School, began his education career in 1989 as a teacher in Hamilton Southeastern Schools. In 2000, he joined East Allen County Schools and came to FWCS in 2008 as principal of Elmhurst High School. When Elmhurst closed in 2010, he was assigned to North Side High School. As Director of Student & Family Support Services, he fills a position that has been vacant for more than a year.

 

Tamara Mullins, Bunche Early Childhood Center Principal
Tamara Mullins, currently principal at Towles Intermediate School, will return to Bunche Early Childhood Center as principal. She began her education career as a substitute for FWCS in 1991 and was later hired as a teacher at Washington Elementary School. She taught at Fairfield and Waynedale elementary schools before completing the administrative intern program at Forest Park Elementary during the 2002-03 school year. The following year, she was assigned as principal at Bunche, which was then a pre-K through fifth-grade Montessori school. When Towles opened as a 1-8 building, she moved to Towles. In returning to Bunche, she Mullins will fill the principal position, which has been open during the 2015-16 school year.

 

Tim Captain, Towles Intermediate School Principal
Tim Captain, currently assistant principal overseeing Towles New Tech, will become Towles Intermediate School principal. He joined FWCS in 1998 as a teacher at Fairfield Elementary. He completed the administrative intern program during the 2003-04 school year at Indian Village Elementary. He then served as a Technology Coordinator until 2009 when he became the Secondary Administration Coordinator. In 2012, he took his current position at Towles New Tech. At Towles, he replaces Tamara Mullins, who is moving to Bunche Early Childhood Center.
Melissa Plumb, Whitney Young Early Childhood Center Principal Melissa Plumb joined FWCS in 1998 as a special education teacher. In 2014, she became an administrative intern at Haley Elementary and is currently serving as assistant principal at Haley. At Whitney Young, she replaces Sherry Britt, who is retiring at the end of the school year.

 

Bradley Crozier, Memorial Park Middle School Principal
Bradley Crozier joined Fort Wayne Community Schools in 2013 as an administrative intern, which he completed at Lakeside Middle School. In 2014, he became assistant principal at Kekionga Middle School, where he remains. He began his career in education in 2008. At Memorial Park, he replaces Timothy Rayl, who will be the Secondary Area Director.

 

David West, North Side High School Principal
David West joined FWCS in 2001 after serving in the U.S. Army and working in Southwest Allen County Schools and Northern Wells Community Schools. His first position with FWCS was as a Title I resource teacher at Ward Education Center. He served as an administrative intern during the 2003-04 school year at Northrop High School where he stayed on as an assistant principal until 2010. In 2010, he moved to North Side where he has been an assistant principal. At North Side, he replaces Chad Hissong, who has been named the Director of Student & Family Support Services.

 

Jason Witzigreuter, Northrop High School Principal
Jason Witzigreuter returns to FWCS and Northrop after serving as Principal at Adams Central Middle/High School for the last four years. He began his education career in 1998 as a band and choir director at East Side Middle School in Anderson. He went on to hold similar positions in Stevens Point, Wis., and Angola. He became the band director at Northrop in 2007, where he stayed until 2012.

 

Emily Oberlin, New Tech Academy at Wayne High School
Assistant Principal Emily Oberlin joined Fort Wayne Community Schools in 2006. In 2013, when she was a world history teacher at South Side High School, she was named the FWCS Teacher of the Year and went on to be a finalist for Indiana Teacher of the Year. In 2014, she completed her administrative internship, including spending one semester at New Tech Academy. She is currently serving as an assistant principal at Northrop High School. At New Tech, she replaces Liz Bryan, who will become the Personalized Education Manager in the Student, Family & Community Engagement Department.
