Fatal Shooting Investigation

Date: 3/26/2016

Time: 1:25 AM

Location: An alley between Lillie Street and South Anthony Boulevard

Victim: Adult Male/Deceased

Details:

On Saturday, 3/26/2016, at approximately 1:25 AM, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department were on routine patrol and heard several gunshots in the area to the east of the 3000 block of Holton Avenue. Several officers responded and began canvassing the area. In addition, dispatch received numerous telephone calls from citizens reference gunshots being fired in the area. Officers located a vehicle parked in the north/south alley between Anthony Boulevard and Lillie Street. The vehicle was in the 2900 block of the alley and the rear window of the vehicle was shattered. There was a male/adult victim in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. The victim was unresponsive and appeared to be suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s). Paramedics arrived on scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

Detectives are currently canvassing the neighborhood and speaking with homeowners. Crime Scene Technicians are processing the scene and collecting evidence. There is no suspect information or description to provide at this time. The Allen County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity along with the cause and manner of death. This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
