House Fire, South Barr Street

(March 26, 2016) – The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a reported house fire in the 3000 block of South Barr Street. Upon arrival firefighters found heavy fire and smoke coming from the first floor of the residence. The first fire units arrived on the scene in about three minutes. They found that all occupants of the home had self evacuated before the Fire Dept. arrival.

Firefighters made an interior attack on the fire on the first floor rear bedroom and checked upstairs for any fire that possibly extended into other areas of the home along with searching the home to make sure everyone was out. This fire was placed under control in about 10 minutes. There was moderate fire, water damage and heavy smoke damage though out.

No injuries were reported and this fire remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene was N.E.C., TRAA, NIPSCO, AEP, FWPD. The Red Cross was called for 1 Adult and 2 Children.
