Three days left to submit Pre-K apps

 

 

News release from the United Way of Allen County:

One week left to submit On My Way Pre-K applications

(March 21, 2016) – Applications for On My Way Pre-K are due to Brightpoint by Friday, March 25 at 5:00 p.m. Brightpoint is on the corner of Washington and Barr Street at 227 E. Washington Blvd. Brightpoint will close for Good Friday, but applications can be placed in the drop-off box on the Barr Street side of the building. Applications can also be submitted online.

Families must meet all the following eligibility criteria to apply:

  • Live in Allen County
  • Are seeking high quality early childhood education
  • Have a 4-year-old child (by August 1) who is not eligible for Kindergarten
  • Have a household income at or below 127% of the federal poverty guideline

Grants will cover free, high-quality, prekindergarten education through the On My Way Pre-K program. Once accepted into the program, students will choose from full-day or part-day programs at participating providers. An approved list of providers is available on www.onmywayprek.org.

On My Way Pre-K is Indiana’s first state-funded prekindergarten program. The Indiana General Assembly in approved the five-county pilot in 2014. United Way of Allen County along with many other local organizations have pledged matching funds to enable Allen County families to benefit from this program.
