Replacement of bridges over Cedar Creek 3/22

News release from INDOT:

I-69 $6.8 Million Replacement of Bridges over Cedar Creek Scheduled for Tuesday, March 22
Lane restrictions planned between exits 318 and 321 in Allen County

ALLEN COUNTY (March 17, 2016) – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces that a $6.8 million project to replace two bridges on Interstate 69 over Cedar Creek, just north of the Union Chapel exit, is scheduled to begin Tuesday, March 22, weather permitting.

The two-season project will facilitate the construction of two bridges over Cedar Creek, with the northbound bridge being built this year and the southbound bridge constructed in 2017.

In late March, between mile marker 318 and 321, asphalt work will begin on the shoulder in preparation for the construction of temporary crossovers in the median. Daytime lane restrictions and lane shifts should be expected during this time.

Later this spring, crews will begin building the northbound bridge over Cedar Creek. At that time, the crossovers will be used to shift traffic, keeping two 12-foot lanes open in both directions. Additional lane shifts will continue through November as the bridge is completed. Motorists are encouraged to pay attention to signage in preparation for these lane shifts.

The speed limit in the construction zone is 55 mph and will be strictly enforced. INDOT reminds drivers to use caution and consider worker safety when driving through an active work zone.

The project was awarded to Primco for $6.8 million.
