News release from GiGis Playhouse:
A Campaign for Acceptance of Current and Future Generations: GiGi’s Playhouse Launches Generation G National Movement
World Down Syndrome Day – Fort Wayne, Indiana, March 21, 2016(March 18, 2016) – GiGi’s Playhouse Down Syndrome Achievement Centers will blaze yet another new trail by launching the “Generation G” campaign for greater acceptance of people with all abilities. For the first time ever, all Playhouse locations throughout the United States and Mexico will unite on a national campaign designed to raise awareness and engage communities to accept individuals with Down syndrome, and those with other differences, in all aspects of life.
The launch of Generation G takes place on Monday, March 21st which is also World Down Syndrome Day. The Playhouse will be open all day for tours, and at 6:00 p.m., GiGi’s Playhouse Fort Wayne and DSANI will be doing a 21 balloon release followed by light refreshments and appetizers provided by Granite City. Members of the public are strongly encouraged to visit GiGi’s Playhouse Fort Wayne and join the campaign.
Generation G calls on families, volunteers, donors, millennials, visionary corporations, schools, the media, and more – to serve as ambassadors, tutors, marketing partners, and messengers; all to help reshape perceptions about people with different abilities, and to foster greater acceptance and generosity for future generations to come.
“Generation G is truly a game changer,” shares GiGi’s Playhouse found Nancy Gianni; also mom to GiGi Gianni, a 13 year old teenager who loves to dance, work out, FaceTime with friends, and cheerlead with her teammates. “People who are part of Generation G are always generous and accepting with their time, their heart and their support. They are believers! They are heroic on a daily basis. They challenge the status quo. And they understand that helping others and changing perceptions takes a lot of time and long-term investment. We invite EVERYONE of any age and ability to join Generation G! Help us take our mission and programs to new heights! Remember, our kids never get to take a break from their diagnosis. This is why GiGi’s Playhouse, and all of the people who join Generation G, will never stop fighting for them.
