World-renowned organist Raul Prieto RamÃrez in free concert at Trinity Episcopal Church
(March 20, 2016) – World-renowned organist Raul Prieto Ramirez will perform in a free concert at Trinity Episcopal Church on Sunday, April 10 at 5 p.m.
The concert will be on Trinity’s newly furbished organ in the church at 611 West Berry, Fort Wayne.
RamÃrez is a Spanish organist who has established himself among the elites of the international concert scene. He first discovered the organ by chance on a radio program at age 11 years old and taught himself to play. He then studied in Spain, receiving the highest distinctions and awards before moving to Stuttgart on a scholarship from the German government to study organ performance with Ludger Lohmann.
“At the same time, he was developing a new personal organ technique based on the ideas of the pianist Leonid Sintsev of the prestigious St. Petersburg piano school at the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory.
“As a result of his enthusiastic and varied studies, Mr. RamÃrez possesses a wide and deep knowledge of organ repertoire, styles, and schools. He is respected as a specialist in such disparate subjects as old fingering techniques and modern symphonic transcriptions,” according to the website of Phillip Truckenbrod Concert Artists.
At age 27, Ramierez was named the first Organist-in-Residence of Spain’s National Concert Hall and critics hailed him as one of the most exciting talents in the music scene in Spain. Since September 2013, he has been a member of the music faculty at Ball State University. He continues as the artistic director of the annual summer International Organ Festival in Barcelona and pursues a busy concert schedule that takes him to major festivals and concert halls around the world.
