Mad Ants Dominant in Win Over Iowa

(February 28, 2016) – The Mad Ants, sponsored by Lutheran Health Network, topped the Iowa Energy, 110-85 on Sunday, February 28th at the Allen Co. War Memorial Coliseum.

Iowa jumped out to an early lead behind the 62.5% shooting of former Mad Ant Ramon Harris. Harris, who was making his first appearance back to Fort Wayne since joining the Iowa Energy, led all scorers at the half with 13 points in addition to his seven rebounds. CJ Fair and Rakeem Christmas fueled the Mad Ants offense the first half to eliminate Iowa’s lead and develop their own double figured advantage late. As both teams headed into halftime, the Mad Ants found themselves up 54-39. Fair and Christmas each lead with eleven points. Fresh off a strong performance at Canton, Terran Petteway followed his teammates with 10 points.

The Mad Ants advanced their fifteen point halftime lead as the third quarter progressed, growing it their largest lead of the night, 29, on 65% shooting by the time the quarter came to a close; Fort Wayne would not drop below a twenty point lead the remainder of the game, allowing them to take the 110-85 victory in the end. Stephan Hicks became a dominant offensive threat in the fourth quarter, as he ended his night with 18 points. Petteway, who secured a double-double with 20 points and ten rebounds followed Fair who would go on to lead all scorers with 24 points and five rebounds.

Leading the way for the Energy, Jarell Martin finished with 19 points and Patrick Christopher and Ramon Harris concluded with 13 points each.

Fort Wayne moves to 16-21 on the season, while Iowa falls to 17-20.
