Lake effect snow continues tonight
(February 11, 2016) – Lake effect snow will continues tonight before winding down on Thursday. Heavy lake effect snow bands are expected to impact portions of northern Indiana and southwest lower Michigan through tonight. This may cause hazardous travel conditions with visibilities suddenly reduced to near zero at times, and slick, snow covered roadways. Additional snowfall amounts up to 4 inches are possible in favored areas where the bands persist the longest, with lesser amounts further away from Lake Michigan.
Storm total snowfall amounts from this past Monday afternoon through Thursday could exceed a foot or more in some locations in parts of extreme northern Indiana and southwest lower Michigan. A winter weather advisory remains in effect for Berrien, Cass and St. Joseph counties in Michigan and LaPorte, St. Joseph and Elkhart counties in Indiana through 10 AM EST Thursday.
