NACS Shines in Scholastic Art and Writing Competition
NACS students earning 370 Art and Writing awards

(February 3, 2016) – Northwest Allen County Schools high school and middle school students have received a total of 370 Awards from the Northeast Indiana/Northwest Ohio Regional Scholastic Art and Writing Competition.

Carroll High School continues to do very well. Carroll claimed 146 writing awards and 185 art awards. 123 of those winning entries were given Gold Key awards.

Carroll Middle School earned 35 art awards, 17 of those being Gold Keys.

Maple Creek Middle School earned 4 awards, 2 of those being Gold Keys.

All winning pieces will be on display at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, and all Gold Key award winning pieces will continue on to compete in the National Scholastic Art and Writing Competition.

Through the Scholastic Awards, teens in grades 7 through 12 from public, private, or home schools can apply in 29 categories of art and writing for their chance to earn scholarships and have their works exhibited and published. This year had the most entries ever for the 52 counties in Indiana and Ohio that make up the regional competition. Overall there were 2,754 art entries and 1,567 writing entries.

The ceremony to honor all regional winners will be held at 1:00pm on Sunday, February 14, at the Grand Wayne Center. Following the ceremony, the exhibit honoring all award winning pieces will open at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art. National Scholastic Art and Writing winners will be announced in March.
