Critical Injury Motor Vehicle Accident

Details:

Fort Wayne police responded to 3300 block of S. Clinton Street on the report of a vehicle into a house. On arrival officers discovered a single motor vehicle that had left the east side of the roadway and ended up resting next to 3319 S. Clinton Street.

The passenger car contained three occupants, a female driver, male front seated passenger and a rear seated female passenger. The rear seated passenger was pinned in the vehicle and required extrication taking over forty minutes to free her. Fort Wayne Fire Department while freeing the passenger also had to deal with a natural gas leak as the vehicle knocked the gas meter off of the house.

All three occupants were transported to a local hospital, the two front seated in serious condition and the extricated passenger in critical condition. Witness accounts indicated that the car was involved in a speed contest with a pickup truck prior to the crash, could not negotiate the curve at Packard Avenue, left the roadway became airborne flipped crashing into the home.

Clinton Street was shut down to all traffic while crash investigators documented the scene. This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Coroner’s office, and the Allen County Prosector’s office.
