ATHENA Nominations Now Open, Due March 4
Award Luncheon Scheduled for April 20

(February 2, 2016) – Greater Fort Wayne Inc., is now accepting nominations for the 2016 ATHENA Award Program, due March 4, ahead of the April 20 award luncheon. The ATHENA Award Program celebrates exceptional men, women and organizations who have served the community in a meaningful way and have assisted women in their attainment of professional goals and leadership skills. These individuals are recognized through the Leadership Award, the Young Professional Award, and, for the first time in Fort Wayne, the Organizational Leadership Award.

The prestigious ATHENA Leadership Award honors individuals who demonstrate excellence, creativity, and initiative in their business or profession, who provide valuable service by contributing time and energy to improve the quality of life for others in the community, and who actively assist women in realizing their full leadership potential.

The ATHENA Young Professional Award honors emerging women leaders, aged 40 and under, who demonstrate excellence, creativity, and initiative in her business or profession, provides valuable service to improve the quality of life for others in her community, and clearly serves as a role model for young women both personally and professionally.

In addition to these awards, GFW Inc., will also be awarding the ATHENA Organizational Leadership Award for the first time, recognizing an organization within the community that creates an organizational culture that encourages women employees to achieve their full leadership potential and gives back to the larger community of women and girls by providing and/or supporting leadership development opportunities and initiatives.

Nominations for the three local ATHENA Awards are now available on the Greater Fort Wayne Inc., website at athena.gfwinc.com. For the individual Leadership and Young Professional awards, the nominee must fill out a nomination form, and a nominator must separately complete and submit a letter of nomination. For the Organizational Leadership award, only a nomination form must be submitted.

The deadline for nominations and letters for all awards is Friday, March 4, 2016. Late nomination forms or letters of nomination will not be accepted.

To recognize the nominees and announce the winners, Greater Fort Wayne Inc., will hold the 11th Annual ATHENA Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at Parkview’s Mirro Center, 10622 Parkview Plaza Drive, from 11:30 am to 1 pm. ATHENA International Founder, Martha Mertz, will be the keynote speaker.
